GRADING SCALES

The grading scale in the United States and specifically in Minnesota can be very different from the scales used in other countries. For, example Minnesota uses a four point scale to determine grades. Many parts of Mexico, Central America and other parts of the Spanish speaking world use a 10 point scale to determine their grades. This can easily cause confusion for immigrants trying to understand their children's progress in Minnesota schools. The two tables below show what each letter grade corresponds to on each scale.

Some countries of Central America and others use a five point grading scale.
